Abdul Karim is a citizen of Afghanistan who was held in extrajudicial detention in the United States Guantanamo Bay detainment camps, in Cuba.[1] American intelligence analysts estimate he was born in 1982, in Sangin, Afghanistan.

Abdul Karim was transferred to Afghanistan on May 9, 2003. His Guantanamo Internment Serial Number was 520.[2]

Transfer from GuantanamoEdit

Abdul Karim's name was not included on the official list of the names of the detainees whose classification as "enemy combatants" were reviewed by Combatant Status Review Tribunals.[3] The Tribunals started in July 2004, implying that Abdul Karim was transferred from Guantanamo prior to July 2004.

RepatriationEdit

Guantanamo camp authorities report he was repatriated on 9 May 2003.[4]

Release from Pakistani custodyEdit

Afghan news reports state that Abdul Karim was released from Pakistani custody together with six other men, including three senior Taliban.[5] The other six men are Mullah Yahya, Mullah Suleman, Qari Samiullah, Mirza Mohammad, Faizullah and Farooq Khan. Yahya was the Taliban's administrative chief of the Khewa and Darinoor districts. Suleman was a lieutenant of Maulvi Kabir, the Taliban's Governor of Nangarhar.
